Hey all!! Just wanted to write a little note to say “I’m still here!” and to update you all on what’s happening. If you haven’t heard, I will be releasing my new single real soon. We just need to tweak a few things around and it will be ready. So stay tuned to your favorite radio stations and social media networking sites for that. As for my music in general, there may be some twists as to projects I’ll be working on.
Okay, first of all I just want to state that “MUSIC” is my passion and love, regardless of the genre. Whether it is Reggae, Jazz, Pop, Rock, or even that Singer-Songwriter vibe, etc. I will always perform and write from my heart and soul. With that said, I’ve been thinking heavily about the direction of where my next musical project will go. My heart is saying to share with all of you some of the music I’ve written strictly on piano and maybe some guitar. But basically it’s gonna be some stripped down versions of my new songs. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, it will be more like a singer-songwriter indie artist vibe. No chanking and one drop beats unless the song really calls for it. lol....
For all my Island Pop/Reggae music fans, I will not leave you hanging. There will be single releases of this music too. I truly hope that you will enjoy every bit of this other music too. It will still be me, Maelan, just not so much dancing but rather listening and feeling and head nodding and foot tapping. It will still be music from and for the soul, music for the heart and music for the mind filled with deep emotion.... happy and sad.... feelings that are felt due to our being human. Some want, need, gratitude, faith, hope, lost and love.
Some may say that separating myself into these different genres and categories of music is not the right thing to do. But I know that going with your gut is and this is exactly what I’m doing. Like one of my favorite quotes says... “If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll never get there.” I’m sticking to it. Life is a mystery, we don’t know what’s around the corner. We might as well do all the things that we are capable of doing because all we can do is try. So with that said, I’ll end this little update/blog with a sense of appreciation for all of you who took the time to read this. Music is the one thing that I truly know and feel and all I want to do is share my music with you, the world and everyone that loves music too.
